Tomáš Fiala

Attorney at law, Ph.D., LL.M.

Tomáš completed his studies at Masaryk University, Brno, Faculty of Law, with a Magister Iuris in 1993 and obtained his doctorate at the same university in 2001. He was awarded a degree of Master of Laws in Sports Law at Charles Unisversity in Prague in 2022. From 1993 to 2001 he worked as a lawyer at the Office for Protection of Economic Competition where, from 1999 to 2001, he held the position of  Director of the European and International Department and was a member of the Appellate Commission for the Field of Economic Competition. He worked as an associate for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer from 2001 to 2002. Following the 2002 takeover of the Prague office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer by its former partners Josef Vejmelka and Petr Wünsch, he pursued his practice in Vejmelka & Wünsch. In 2008 he was promoted to Partner. Tomáš is a member of the Czech Bar Association and the Czech Association of Competition Law. He has participated as a speaker at a number of seminars and conferences regarding competition law and published various legal articles in this field. The rating publication Chambers Europe regularly recognizes him as a leading expert in competition law. He speaks Czech and English. Presently he specializes in competition law, public procurement law, data protection, pharmaceutical law and sports law.
